BIOGRAPHY OF JORDI ALCARAZ:

Calella, Barcelona, 1963

Jordi Alcaraz began his artistic career in the field of sculpture and engraving. He has held numerous individual and group exhibitions both in Spain and in other countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Canada, Switzerland), and has participated in many of the most important fairs on the international contemporary art circuit (Arco, Art Basel, Art Frankfurt, Art Cologne, Art Chicago, Art Miami, Art Lisbon).

Alcaraz’s speech is based on the classical tradition of painting and sculpture to reach a reflection on volume, language and time through the use of materials such as water, glass, mirrors, reflections or books. that incorporate this idea.

Visual transgression predominates in Alcaraz’s artistic language, the play of diverse looks and the conjugation of transparencies and holes that allow us to glimpse hidden, magical spaces. Thus, Jordi Alcaraz establishes, through his works, an unprecedented, surprising and metaphorical relationship with the world.

Sculptures, paintings and drawings, always through his peculiar treatment of materials and his poetic plays on words and unexpected titles. Games of bags of pigments that sink into glass surfaces, poetically showing the beginning of the painting, wooden sculptures that cross the methacrylate urn in which they are found, going from the darkness of the night to the light of day, colors who flee from their boats through imaginary holes, impossible portraits.
