Gudiol’s work is characterized by great sensitivity and elegance. Mystery, serenity and melancholy are traits also present in the figures of Montserrat Gudiol.

BIOGRAPHY OF MONTSERRAT GUDIOL:
Montserrat Gudiol i Corominas (Barcelona, ​​1933-2015), painter, draftsman and engraver, is the daughter of the art historian and architect Josep Gudiol i Ricart. In 1947 he began to enter the world of art as a self-taught artist. He trained in his family’s medieval painting restoration studio, and in 1950 he dedicated himself to painting on panel and paper. Her work shows a taste for fantasy, where color and figures merge in a world of mystery, dominated by frayed, blind characters, often with scenes of motherhood, clearly influenced by the themes of surrealism and the forms of Pablo Picasso. in its blue and pink times. His painting also shows interiority, silence, peace and sadness. In 1966, the first engravings by Montserrat Gudiol were born. And in 1972 his first lithographs.

He has exhibited in Barcelona, ​​Malaga, Seville, Bilbao, South Africa, the United States, the former Soviet Union, Canada, etc. Likewise, he has won the first international drawing prize at the Ynglada Guillot Foundation, Barcelona, ​​and has work in the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), in Madrid, Bilbao, Johannesburg, Flint, Montreal, etc.

In 1980 Gudiol made a monumental Saint Benedict for the Abbey of Montserrat and in 1981 she was the first woman to become a full member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of San Jordi. His works are sought after by the best national and international collectors.
