BIOGRAPHY OF JOAN-PERE VILADECANS:
Born in Barcelona in 1948, Joan-Pere Viladecans is a painter whose art is characterized by balance, chromatic strength, bold strokes, and rationality in arranging objects and elements of nature.

Influenced by artists like Antoni Tàpies and Joan Brossa, who, along with Salvador Espriu, were among his friends, Viladecans began with works that combined painting with everyday objects. He later transitioned to creating dense paintings with various materials, applied through diverse techniques (Pintura sobre papel, 1973; Cuaderno verde, 1987). In the 1970s and 1980s, he exhibited in national galleries, as well as in Europe and the United States.

In the 1990s, Viladecans showcased his work in Tunisia (1991), and there was a shift in his art towards works on paper.

His art has been featured in exhibitions such as the Expo de Sevilla (1992), Oporto (1993), the Sala d’Exposicions de la Fundació Caixa de Manresa (1999), the Centre d’Art Santa Mònica in Barcelona (1999), and the Centro del Conde Duque in Madrid. These exhibitions extended beyond Spain.

Formally, Joan-Pere Viladecans’ work is a constant dialogue between figuration and abstraction. In terms of content, his art explores themes of nature, time, and life.
