BIOGRAPHY OF RAFAEL BARTOLOZZI:
Navarra 1943 - Vespella 2009

Rafael Bartolozzi belongs to the generation of the 60’s, made up of very disparate artists, but who were part of the recovery of the figure and Pop Art.

In 1962 he began studying Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and started to exhibit in the city. In his early days, Bartolozzi was fascinated by the abstraction of Millares, Saura and Tàpies.

In the 1960s he returned to figuration and became one of the leading representatives of Pop Art in Spain.
In the 1980s he leaned sporadically towards informalism, without forgetting the conceptual and objectual aspect of his work.

Bartolozzi was the director and creator, together with Joan Abell, of the Joan Brossa National Visual Poetry Prize.

His work is present in the main museums of contemporary art.
