Ubeda

1

Agustín Úbeda (Herencia, Ciudad Real, 1925 - Madrid, 2007) was a prominent Spanish painter and graphic artist. His work is characterized by lyricism, sensuality, and irony. Úbeda was convinced that painting was a dual aesthetic and intellectual game, and throughout his career, he created a distinctive body of work that held a prominent place in the contemporary Spanish art scene.

He had his first solo exhibition in 1953 and studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, receiving a scholarship from the French Institute of Madrid that allowed him to travel to Paris. Upon his return to Spain, he collaborated as a professor at the School of San Fernando, and in 1980, he became a tenured professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, eventually attaining a chair in 1987.

Agustín Úbeda’s work is part of the exhibition collections of various museums and collections, including the Museum of the City of Geneva in Switzerland, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, among others.

He passed away in 2007.
